Russian Porcelain Basket from the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called
Gardner Manufactory, Verbilki, period of Catherine II, 1778-1780
Oval, with pierced sides and undulating rim, with two flower-capped loop handles simulating twisted branches, on a molded base, the exterior molded with a varicolored collar and cross of the order above laurel leaves and within gilt foliate scrolls, the interior centering a painted silver star of the order, underglaze blue mark under base. Width 11 1/2 inches (29.2 cm.) across handles.

In generally good restored condition. The handles and surrounding areas have been professionally restored. Otherwise light wear to gilding and decoration, consistent with age and use.
