Russian Porcelain Basket from the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called
Gardner Manufactory, Verbilki, period of Catherine II, 1778-1780
Oval, with pierced sides and undulating rim, with two flower-capped loop handles simulating twisted branches, on a molded base, the exterior molded with a varicolored collar and cross of the order above laurel leaves and within gilt foliate scrolls, the interior centering a painted silver star of the order, underglaze blue mark under base. Width 11 1/2 inches (29.2 cm.) across handles.
