Height 33 1/2 inches (85 cm), width 25 inches (63.5 cm).
Originally designed by Leonard Morel-Ladeuil (c1820-1880) for Elkington's stand at the Paris Exhibition in 1867, the original now resides in the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. The subject draws on English poet John Milton's Paradise Lost. Elkington commissioned such large and elaborate pieces to heighten the firm's reputation helping them to become one of the most celebrated silversmiths of the late 19th century.
