Regency Ebonized, Parcel-Gilt and Brass-Mounted Duet Music-Stand by Erard
Circa 1820
With latticework sloping rests, raised on a fluted adjustable shaft and folding tripod base ending in brass ball feet; the top with brass roundel engaved ERARD'S/4/LONDON. Height 46 1/2 inches (minimum) (118.1 cm), width 19 3/4 inches (50.3 cm).
In 1815, Pierre Erard inherited the pianoforte and music-stand business established by his uncle, Sebastian Erard (fl. 1786-1815) and is recorded variously at 16, 17 and 18 Great Marlborough Street and in 1837 at 3-4 Little Portland Street, Marylebone.
