Grand Duke George Mikhailovich: Group of Letters Related to the Russian Revolution and His Exile in Finland, May-October, 1917
Comprising 32 letters addressed to his daughter, Princess Nina Georgievna, including: a letter dated May 28 which describes England's support for the Russian Revolution and refusal to permit the Grand Duke entrance to the country; a letter dated July 3 which describes the Kerensky government; a letter dated July 11 which describes German involvement in and causes of the Revolution; a letter dated August 4 which describes the evacuation of Emperor Nicholas II and family to Tobolsk; a letter dated August 24, which describes the house arrest of Grand Dukes Michael Alexandrovich and Paul Alexandrovich, the arrest of ministers and generals, and Grand Duke George's suspicion of his own arrest; and two letters dated September 5 and 9 which describe the collapse of Russia, the fate of Russia and the Romanov dynasty.
