MONESMITH, JAMES Collection of photographs of big game hunting in the Belgian Congo.
Summer, 1948. 10 silver gelatin prints preserved in custom clamshell box. All approximately 9 1/8 x 7 inches, with World Wide Photos agency stamps and typescript captions on versos. One photo a bit wrinkled, caption slips toned, but mostly fine.
Photographs from Monesmith's hunting trip to Africa with his daughter Elaine in the summer of 1948. Some of these were published to accompany the article, "Elaine Goes to Africa -- Not to Zoo -- To Learn of Animals," in the August 24, 1948 edition of The Dayton Herald.
