Publisher's blue cloth with upper panel and spine of dust jacket tipped in. 8 5/8 x 5 1/2 inches; 320 pp.; frontispiece and plates after photographs, half-title. Light wear to extremities, endpapers toned, foxing throughout, bookplate to front pastedown, booksellers ticket to rear pastedown.
Presentation copy from the author to Norman Dukeyne Newall and his wife Leslia, inscribed on the front free endpaper and with an accompanying printed prayer laid in, dated "Xmas 1929" addressed to Norman and Leslia and signed in ink. Czech, Africa, p. 228.
