. A Big-Game Thriller. London: Victor Gollancz Ltd, 1931. First edition, inscribed by the author. 9 1/4 x 5 7/8 inches; 368 pp.; frontispiece and plates after photographs, half-title. Generally a bit rubbed with wear to extremities, scattered foxing and toning.
Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Allan Snowman Esq. / With the kindest regards / & best wishes of the author. / London 1-XII-'31". "With great detail Siggins relates the attempt to trap a herd of hippos to be used in the film The Four Feathers. While this involves several exciting chapters, of greater interest to the sporting bibliophile are the author's reminiscences of hunting elephant, hippopotamus and buffalo along the Rovuma River of Portuguese East Africa in the first decade of the 20th century" (Czech).
