London: Macmillan and Co., Limited, 1912. First edition. Publisher's blue pictorial cloth gilt, top edge gilt. 8 1/2 x 5 1/4 inches; xviii, [1], 324, [2] pp.; frontispiece and illustrations after photographs, half-title, publisher's advertisements. Spine ends bumped, a bit overopened, free endpapers toned, but a nice copy overall.
Recounts the author's exploits hunting after elephant in East Africa, along with other adventures with rhinoceros, lion, leopard, and plains game. Upon his return to England in 1913, Sutherland was celebrated as the "world's greatest elephant hunter." Czech, Africa, p. 274 ("One of the true classics of African big game hunting").
