, two pages on a single sheet, recto and verso, on thin Vidalon paper, in the original registered mail envelope addressed by him to Mademoiselle Lila Galitzine. Nice, dated 18 July 1926, about 27 lines in all. Original mailing creases, a few small edge creases, minor toning, signature strong, overall in sound condition.
A cordial letter of thanks and farewell, originally accompanied by a small gift, sent to the woman who had cared for Matisse's grandson Claude [Duthuit], on the occasion of her leaving France for the United States.
