First Period Worcester Reticulated Covered Chestnut Basket on Stand
Circa 1775
Quatrefoil-form with honeycomb molded body decorated with stylized flowers, the branch-form handles with applied flower joins, the cover and stand pierced with foliate lappets. Length of stand 10 7/8 inches (27.2 cm).

An identical Worcester chestnut basket and stand in the collection of the Hermitage, St. Petersburg, is illustrated in "The Hermitage: English Art", 1979, pg 200. Another example is in the collection of the High Museum, Atlanta.
