Italian Baroque Giltwood Mirror
First half 18th century, possibly Florence
The arched mirror plate within diaperwork-carved frame surmounted by a mask and flanked by scrolls, the sides and apron with masks. Height 64 inches (162.5 cm), width 44 inches (111.8 cm).

Two similar mirrors are illustrated, G. Child, World Mirrors 1650-1900, London, 1990, p. 266, figs. 561-562.

Overall good, unrestored condition, rubbing to gilding, cresting with worm damage to nose of mask, losses, oxidation and condensation to silvering of mirror plate, losses to carving of mask to right side at center, repaired break to apron with losses and chips to gilding
