The hinged crossbanded top sliding down channels of back legs and forming a firescreen above a leather-lined rectangular top on ratchet support with removeable bookrest and flanked by frieze side slides, the right side with a formerly compartmentalized drawer, raised on tapering square legs ending in brass caps and casters. Height 29 inches (73.7 cm), width 20 inches (50.8 cm), depth 14 1/2 inches (37.2 cm).

Restored condition, now with shiny varnish, sunfading, hinged top panel sliding down into grooves of insides of back legs, which are now warped, leather panel replaced, age cracks to leather along lines of construction, side drawer formerly compartmentalized for inkwells and pen recess, removeable bookrest, minor losses and restorations to veneers, left front foot broken off above caster.
