Early 19th century
The hood with swan's neck pediment and circular glazed door, the white-painted dial with seconds ring above phases of the moon, signed Bentley Birmingham, the two-train four-pillar movement with anchor escapement, the ogee-arched trunk door flanked by freestanding columns headed by gilt-metal Corinthian capitals, the oval-inlaid plinth on splayed feet. Height 96 inches (242.5 cm).

Overall good condition, age cracks to plinth, lifting to veneers of trunk door, brass eagle finial later, lacking escutcheon to door, old marks and scratches, losses to veneers.
