Restauration Ormolu Mantel Clock
Second quarter 19th century
The figure of Diana holding a fowl in one hand and drawing an arrow from the quiver on her back, seated on the clock drum with white enamel dial with the inscription 'quam indicat utiliter impende' ('what it shows, use to advantage') and signed 'Vasse à Paris', on an arched rocky base above a waterfall and flanked by bulrushes, the plinth with hunting scene with dog and a stag at bay flanked by hunting trophies, raised on toupie feet. Height 19 inches (48.3 cm), width 16 1/2 inches (41.9 cm).
