This touching work executed by Eliza Robeson depicts her father, Mr. Jonas Robeson (1770-1819), a prominent merchant of Fitzwilliam, New Hampshire, and her siblings mourning the death of her mother.

The silk is separating from the support canvas in some places. A few losses at the center left edge. There are a areas of inpaint in the greens at the lower right. In the upper center there is a repaired "L" shaped tear approximately 1 1/2 x 1 inch.
