Angelina Wenner was born to Jacob and Lydia (Hiskey) Wenner. She had three children and died May 7, 1892. A larger example (24 x 25 inches) with a larger basket of flowers also worked by Angelina Wenner eight years prior to this one (1840) and sold at Freeman's Philadelphia, November 19, 2005, Lot 367.
It was common for girls to complete small, simple samplers at a young age. The larger, more detailed pictures were wrought at an older age if the family could afford it.
