Additional Notes & Condition Report
appears to be in generally good condition; now lacks original marble (?) base; two "pins" are exposed on the underside indicating the bronze figure originally sat upon a base or perhaps atop a large mantel clock; there is general scattered wear and rubbing to the patina, consistent with age and handling; it is possible that an element of some kind was held or placed in the figure's raised right hand and is now missing, however, there is no discoloration or scratching to the patina in this area that would suggest there originally was an element located here; sculptures of this subject from antiquity depict the seated and robed figure holding a rolled up parchment scroll in this hand
