ELIOT, THOMAS STEARNS Typed letter signed, 1925.
London: 9 June 1925. One page typed letter signed "T.S. Eliot" on one sheet of The Criterion stationery. Visible area 8 x 7 1/2 inches (20 x 19 cm); framed with a portrait. Folds and minor handling creases, unexamined out of frame but does not appear laid-down, with a large, dark and bold signature.
Eliot here writes to an unknown correspondent about the poetry critic H. P. Collins reporting that he was impressed with an essay published in Criterion and that "Mr. Collins is a critic of remarkable maturity of thought and expression, obviously of wide reading [which is] especially uncommon, he brings to bear upon criticism a philosophic mind." Eliot closes recommending Collins to future publishers.
