New York: MacMillan, 1936. First edition, first issue, with "Set up and electrotyped. Published May 1936" to the copyright page. Publisher's gray cloth, in first issue jacket with $3.00 price present at the foot of the front flap and the title of the novel in the second column of the rear panel. 1037 pp., with the promotional booklet "Margaret Mitchell and Her Novel Gone with the Wind" laid-in. The cloth fine, the jacket spine lightly sunned and with a few minor edge chips and creases, a very good copy overall, the pamphlet fine.
Mitchell's Civil War-era classic in an unrestored original dust jacket. When made into a film in 1939 starring Clark Gable and Vivien Liegh, Gone with the Wind was awarded eight Oscars including Best Picture. The promotional pamphlet present here was issued in response to overwhelming interest from readers for information on Mitchell and facts about the novel.
