Two volumes bound as one, modern blue cloth. 11 x 8 3/4 inches (28 x 22 cm); xx, 1152 pp., with 10 hand-colored aquatint views (7 folding), 7 hand-colored costume plates, two folding maps, and six uncolored plates (including two of music). An uncut copy; the upper margin at the center of the book has been gnawed, the damage entering the upper margin of at least one of the plates.
The first edition of this classic color-plate book of travels in the Ottoman Empire. Abbey Travel 202 (listing 2nd edition).
