Chicago: W.B. Conkey, 1893. First edition. Original printed wrappers. 7 x 5 inches; portrait and line drawings throughout (including a full page drawing of a Headpot), 107 pp. Wrappers with small losses to corners and fore-edge, faint crease across some text, title with ink and stamped ownership markings in upper margin, tape repair to one leaf towards end with some offset to a few other leaves.
An uncommon work printing a series of letters by Riggs, an early collector of prehistoric specimens, pottery, native American artifacts and other relics, as well as a hunter and trapper on the Mississippi. The Cincinnati Museum Center holds 1000 pottery vessels collected by Riggs. Rare Book Hub lists no copies since 1923.
