GENTHE, ARNOLD (1869-1942) Modern Torso,
circa 1918. Vintage toned gelatin silver print, 13 3/8 x 9 1/4 inches (338 x 236 mm), unsigned (as usually found), unannotated. Some oxidation (silvering) noted, old fingermark or similar in dark are of lower right quadrant, but generally a very attractive example. Framed.
Various dates have been assigned to this image, from about 1910 on. We have used the Getty's dating here. The model was Lisa Duncan, one of the so-called Isadorables, adoped by Isadora Duncan whose name she took.
