(MEATYARD, RALPH EUGENE; WHITE, MINOR; et al.) Center for Photographic Studies Invitational Portfolio One.
Louisville, Kentucky: Center for Photographic Studies, 1972. One of 120 copies, colophon with the edition notation 68 in white ink. Silver-stamped box with black boards, contents loose as issued. [4] pp. text; with 18 (of 18) photographs, including works by Ralph Eugene Meatyard, Minor White, Emmet Gowin, and others, comprising fifteen gelatin silver prints, two photostatic prints, and a c-print; the images measuring 4 3/4 x 4 1/4 to 7 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches (121 x 108 to 191 x 241 mm), and the reverse, the mounts 14 x 11 inches (356 x 279 mm), all but two with the photographers' signatures (including the Meatyard), and some with the dates and an edition notation, in pencil or in ink, on mounts recto or verso; the White and Gowin unsigned, with the photographers' hand stamps,on mount verso; each image with the Portfolio hand stamp on mount verso. Fine.
The portfolio was produced the year Meatyard died (having already prepared his contribution), and it is dedicated to him. The prints are by Anderson, Church, Davenport, Dickey, Gowan, Gassan, Kowal, Kurtz, Kennedy, Meatyard, Miller, Pressma, Harry Smith, Henry Smith, Sparks, Traub, Traube and White.
