Pair of Bow Porcelain Kakiemon Octagonal Bowls and Stands
Circa 1755, unmarked
In the Japanese Arita style, each bowl exterior enameled and gilt with a female figure in a blue kimono flanked by a banded hedge and trailing peony, the interiors of all four pieces, with a running boy in turquoise and yellow, enticing a kylin with a tethered peony, the mythic beast romping beside banded hedges issuing flowering prunus, the everted brown line rim richly decorated with an interrupted band of scrolling foliage.
Height of bowl 3 1/2 inches, diameter 6 7/8 inches; height of stand 6 3/4 inches.
