[NIXON ADMINISTRATION] Two large format photograph albums including many from the 1972 Moscow Summit.
Two black leather photograph albums prepared for William Safire, each 15 x 12 inches (28 x 30 cm). Comprising large format photographs in both black and white and color (largest photos 14 x 11), programs, and ephemera such as name badges and seat placement cards. Many of the Russian photographs are laid-in the sleeves over images of the 1972 campaign. Generally fine.
The first album chronicles the historically important 1972 Moscow Summit and includes among the forty or so photographs ephemera such as Safire's name badges, table setting cards, and at front a telegram reaching Safire in Puerto Rico "The President wants both you and Price to accompany him to Russia." The photographs depict Nixon's motorcade, at the Summit with Brezhnev; a formal dinner; at the Bolshoi Theatre (with especially imprinted program). The second album commences with a letter on White House stationery dated 1971 providing Safire with photographs of the interior of the White House (about 10). These include large format images of the grounds and facade; the Oval Office; and various interior rooms. The album closes with a long section (about 25 images) of black and white large format images of Nixon, Safire, Kissinger and staff at Camp David.
