Lot Details

Lot 1065
EINSTEIN, ALBERT Typed letter signed.
Princeton: 24 May 1951. One page typed letter signed A. Einstein on one sheet of his embossed 112 Mercer Street, Princeton stationery. The letter in German and with a five-word interlinear manuscript emendation in his hand. Worn with splits and punctures along the folds, one dark stain from an old tape repair.
The letter is addressed to Hermann Piasker in New York and pertains to the desirability of publishing a manuscript of Piasker's, and Einstein's suggestion to submit it to the World Jewish Congress. An unsigned carbon copy of this letter, one of two dated 1951 pertaining to Piasker's project, is noted by Albert Einstein Archives in Jerusalem. So far as we can determine, the manuscript remained unpublished.
