[COLOR PLATE] [PAPWORTH, JOHN BUONAROTTI]. Select Views of London with Historical and Descriptive Sketches of some of the most interesting of the Public Buildings.
London: R. Ackermann, 1816. First edition in book form, plates with Whatman 1817 watermark, the issue with the author's name on the title (no priority). Full scarlet morocco by Rivière & Son, covers with panels with triple fillets, spine in six compartments richly gilt, all edges gilt. 10 x 7 inches (25 x 17 cm); title, [8], 169 pp., with 76 hand-colored plates of London views, of which 5 are folding. Joints and hinges carefully professionally restored, but overall a clean copy, though with the usual slight offsetting of plates to text and a few spots of foxing to the plate of St. James's Palace and the adjacent text..
A fine Ackermann production, the plates of which are mostly aquatint, with some line engraving, all delicately hand-colored. Abbey Scenery 217.
