An interesting archive of Joseph Mankiewicz, the Hollywood director best known for All About Eve and two films represented here, Julius Caesar and Cleopatra. The photographs here offer fine portraits of Mankiewicz along with production views and stills. The letters mainly relate to the efforts of Mrs. Mankiewicz to manage affairs back home and for Mr. Mankiewicz to have much needed items from the U.S., for instance American newspapers and playing cards for the film on which he was working in Italy.
