Empire Mahogany and Bronze-Mounted Extension Dining Table
Early 19th century and later
The elliptical top opening with two later leaves above a plain frieze, raised on tapering square legs headed by bronze heads and ending in casters. Height 29 inches (73.7 cm), width 73 inches (185.5 cm), depth 70 inches (177.7 cm); width of each leaf 19 inches (48.3 cm).

French polished top with perishing to varnish and now with traces of gesso showing through, patches to top at center above pegs for leaves, sunfading to frieze and legs, repaired breaks to tops of three legs, old marks and scratches, top cradled underneath to reduce warpage and now with reinforcments to center sections and ends, extension system with restorations and additions, scuffs to legs and feet.
