Tiffany Studios Moorish Style Bronze and Favrile Glass Turtleback Hanging Lantern
Circa 1900
Of triangular form with a ring shaped mount, with four sides, each upper part decorated with a stack of graduated coiled wires and small balls, the lower part inset with an iridized turtleback tile, in translucent green colored glass, the hinged bottom panel also inset with a turtleback tile, signed L.C.T. Height 12 1/4 inches, width 5 1/4 inches, depth 5 1/4 inches.

appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition; no apparent damage to any of the five turtleback tiles; some of the tiles, however, are now somewhat loose but they do not appear to be in any imminent danger of falling out of their current positions; there is a small white paint splatter on the exterior side of one of the side turtle back tiles and there is a bit of paint splatter/residue on the bronze metalwork in the adjacent area of this tile; all of this paint splatter should be removable with proper care and attention; typical wear to the green patina; no apparent losses or restoration to the bronze coils or small balls in the upper part of the lantern; the turtleback tiles have a nice strong metallic iridescent sheen, including deep pink, green, bright gold, peacock blue, etc.; the lantern has a "trap" door on the bottom; this door opens and closes and secures itself properly; there is some scattered flaking to the patina on the bronze
