Bronze Memorial Plaque for the U.S.S. Maine
Tablet no. 698, cast by Jno. Williams, Inc., Bronze Foundry, New York, after the design by Charles Keck, 1913
The rectangular plaque cast with the words IN MEMORIAM and a palm branch in low relief, the right side cast with a classical figure wearing a Phrygian cap, with head bowed and holding a shield cast with an American eagle and the words PATRIOTISM DEVOTION above the inscription U.S.S. MAINE DESTROYED IN HAVANA HARBOR FEBRUARY 15TH 1898; further inscribed THIS TABLET IS CAST FROM METAL RECOVERED FROM THE U.S.S. MAINE. Height 12 7/8 inches, width 17 3/4 inches.
