Publisher's dark blue cloth over beveled boards; gilt stamped cover and spine. 7 1/2 by 5 inches; [8], [1]-317, [3] pp.; 2 color lithographed plates; 2 pp ads at rear. Light shelf wear, and spine lean, the hinges cracked, lacks a rear free endpaper, booklabel of William Safire; Together with Cleopatra. Being an Account of the Fall and Vengeance of Harmachis, the Royal Egyptian, as Set Forth by His Own Hand. London: Longman, Green and Co., 1889. First trade edition. Publisher's dark blue decorated cloth over beveled boards. 7 1/2 x 5 inches; [i]-xvi, [1]-336, [1]-16; frontispiece, plates. Binding shelf worn at extremities and lightly sunned, the hinges cracked but sound, the front free endpaper coming loose, occasional spotting to contents, gift inscription to half-title.

She, Haggard's immensely popular adventure story, has never been out of print since first published. It is also credited as the foundational text of the "Lost World" subgenre of fantasy literature. McKay 5a; Sadleir 1092; Wolff 2881.
