[and:] Nights with Uncle Remus. New York: D. Appleton, 1881; Boston: James Osgood, 1883. First editions. Two volumes. Publisher's gilt decorated cloth, slipcased together. Slightly varying sizes but both about 7 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches; 231 pp., ads (not mentioning this title); xxvi, 416 pp. Both illustrated. Both unrestored copies in quite good condition overall, the first with faint stains to cloth covers and spine, the second with a small area of wear to spine foot and a few bumps to edges, neat gift inscription, both with the booklabel of Frank J. Hogan with offset to facing leaf.

Uncle Remus: his Songs and his Sayings is the author's first book and is here in the first state with "presumptive" for "presumptuous" on the last line of page 9. This set sold as part of The Frank J. Hogan Library Part One, Parke Bernet, 23 January 1945, lot 209.
