POE, EDGAR ALLAN and NEEL, ALICE The Fall of the House of Usher.
New York: The Limited Editions Club, 1985. Number 1477 of 7500 copies signed by Alice Neel and Raphael Soyer who has provided a two-page appreciation of the artist. Original goatskin backed marbled boards, housed in the original folding cloth case. 15 1/2 x 11 inches; with two color lithographs and an original etching after Neel, 32 pp., with the LEC newsletter laid-in. The volume fine, the case with a few scuffs and light fading.

A fine production printed by The Anthoensen Press, Poe's The Fall of the House of Usher was one of the last projects of painter Alice Neel who died of cancer before the book was completed. Subsequently, not all copies bear her signature. Assisted by Raphael Soyer, the volume is illustrated with two color lithographs after Neel's paintings and an original etching. A popular retrospective of the artist's work, Alice Neel: People Come First, recently closed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
