Original paper backed blue boards, housed in similar paper backed boxes with printed spine labels. 7 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches; [iv], 428 pp.; [iv], 478 pp.; [iv], 463 pp.; [iv], 428 pp., with all half-titles and blanks, completely uncut. The bindings discreetly refurbished with some paper replacement to spines, some light stains and wear, ownership signature of Lydia Clerke to title, old marginal dampstain to first and last leaves of volume I, a few leaves in volumes III & IV with the lower corner torn away on not affecting text.
A good set in original boards of Ann Radcliffe's first novel. This set sold as part of the Library of Saul Cohn (brother to Julius) at Parke Bernet, 21 April 1955, lot 628. Block p. 193; Rothschild 1701; Summers p. 135 & 434.
