Each in three-quarters blue morocco gilt, three with Safire's initials to the cover, one with his father's initials, the tallest 8 1/2 x 6 inches. Includes: BYRD, RICHARD E., (ADMIRAL). Alone, 1938, later printing inscribed by Byrd to Leonard Safir (William Safire's father) and with a signed letter from Byrd laid-in; SANDBURG, CARL. Remembrance Rock, 1948, first trade edition inscribed to William (Bill) Safire and with his bookplate; SANDBURG, CARL. Good Morning America, 1928, one of 811 signed copies, with William Safire's bookplate; FARRELL, JAMES T. The Studs Lonigan Trilogy, later printing inscribed to William (Bill) Safire in 1950 and with his bookplate; and DOS PASSOS, JOHN. Most Likely to Succeed, 1954, one of 1000 signed copies and further inscribed "For Bill." The cover of Alone detached, other wear to joints and small losses.
