TENNYSON, ALFRED, LORD Poems, Chiefly Lyrical.
London: Effingham Wilson, 1830. First edition, first issue with p. 91 misnumbered 19 and with "carcanet" correctly spelled on p.72. Original boards with paper spine label, housed in a cloth slipcase. 7 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches; 154 pp., errata leaf at front, ad leaf at rear. The boards worn with the spine tip pulled and repair to the joints, the label darkened and scratched, offset from booklabel to title which also has few small ink spots, light toning and spotting, with the bookplate of P. Lemperly and the booklabel of Walter Chrysler.
Tennyson's first collection of poems, scarce in original boards and one of only 600 copies printed. This copy was part of the Tennyson collection built by Walter Chrysler and was sold at Parke-Bernet, 26 February 1952, lot 329.
