First edition, one of 1,000 signed by the author, Gordon Allen (the illustrator) and Jim Rikhoff (President of the National Sporting Fraternity Limited) on the limitation leaf, a publisher's presentation copy (so stamped). Publisher's gilt-decorated burgundy leatherette, spines lettered in gilt, decorative endpapers, all edges gilt, housed in the publisher's slipcase. 9 1/8 x 6 inches (23 x 15 cm); xx, 312 pp.; 313-594 pp.; illustrated with drawings by Gordon Allen and color frontispieces from paintings by Carl Rungius and Henry Adamson from the author's private collection, with ten pages illustrating rifles used in sheep hunting at the end. About fine.
