BEARD, PETER Last Word From Paradise. Catalog I.C.P.
[New York]: [International Center of Photography], 1977. First edition. Consists of two large-format folded posters, printed recto and verso on coated newsprint, the poster side of the sheets reproduce Beards' photographic collages, the opposite sides' photographs reproduce Beard's journals. Each sheet 58 1/4 x 42 inches (148 x 107 cm) when unfolded, or 14 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches (37 x 27 cm) folded. Light toning and dampstaining to "covers" with some small nicks along edges and a mark in blue pen, a few creases along folds.
A scarce piece of Peter Beard ephemera. This poster, or "catalog," was produced for Beard's The End of the Game: Last Word from Paradise exhibition, held at the ICP from November 13, 1977 to January 22, 1978 and designed by Marvin Israel and Kate Morgan. The exhibition was Beard's first major museum one-man show, coinciding with the publication of an updated edition of the artist's classic conservationist photobook, The End of the Game.
