EVANS, WALKER (1903-1975) [Bed, Tenant Farmhouse, Hale County, Alabama],
1936, (Floyd Burroughs Bedroom), likely 1950s. Gelatin silver print, image 7 3/4 x 9 7/8 inches (200 x 253 mm), verso with the Walker Evans Lunn Galleries stamp (with pencil notation 11-95). Some toning to extreme edges of image, minor oxidation noted, mostly to the plateholder area, scattered original retouching; a sharp, 1-inch crease in the upper center portion of the image which appears to break the emulsion; and some edge wear and scattered tiny losses along the extreme edges of the print, with a small hole-punch within plateholder marks (probably a Walker Evans studio archive mark). Slight fluorescence noted against a dated control specimen. Framed.
This image is Keller 534; she refers to this example as LUNNPFM-60, plate 4, also noting it as a variant.
