Benjamin Witman, Mid-Atlantic States, circa 1800
The pediment inlaid with a stylized sun, above a glazed tombstone door opening to a white painted iron dial with moon's age in the arch, lettered Benjn Witman, second's hand and calendar aperture, all surrounded by polychrome and gilt spandrels, above a molded door and molded base with flaring French feet, and string inlay throughout. Height 8 feet 1 inch, width 20 3/4 inches, depth 11 1/2 inches.
