Federal Inlaid Mahogany and Flame Birch Sideboard
Portsmouth, New Hampshire, circa 1810
The shaped and fan-inlaid top with bowed center above five frieze drawers, over two bottle drawers and four cupboard doors separated by ring-turned engaged columns, raised on turned legs centering an oval-inlaid drop panel. Height 42 inches, width 65 inches.
Provenance: Christie's, June 17, 2001, lot 106.
Note: This sideboard relates to another sideboard attributed to Judkins and Senter of Portsmouth and pictured in Brock Jobe, Portsmouth Furniture, 1993, no. 67; and also to furniture attributed to the cabinetmaker Joseph Clark of Greenland, New Hampshire.
