1828-1846
Comprising a teapot, coffee pot, cream jug, covered sugar bowl and a waste bowl, each with a Chinoiserie architectural landscape amongst foliage, the covers with Oriental figural bust handles. Length of coffee pot 10 1/4 inches, total approximately 123 ounces.
America's oldest surviving silversmith, it was pieces like this tea and coffee service that established Samuel Kirk's reputation as a leader in silver design. The beautiful mix of Chinese motifs with architectural backdrops amongst a riot of flowers and foliage would become a classic Kirk pattern for the rest of the century.
