Two "Trip Books" assembled about 2008 and 2016 respectively, both with accompanying letters. Each approximately 6 x 5 inches (15 x 13 cm). Dozens of pages, the books are comprised of ink notes, clipped original and reproduction photographs, newspaper and advertising texts, found objects, etc. Minor wear from handling.
Marvelous creations motivated by Brigid Berlin's 1960s "Trip Books," the earlier book here has a note laid-in from Gillian McCain thanking Brigid for a recent interview and describing her thrill at seeing the original "Trip Books" when exhibited. The later book, accompanied by a 2016 letter, was made in collaboration with Jo Ann Wasserman. Gillian McCain first met Brigid Berlin while researching her 2006 book Please Kill Me: The Uncensored Oral History of Punk. The inscribed copy McCain sent to Berlin is also included in the lot.
