Lot Details

Lot 193
[SALMON FISHING--ANTICOSTI] The Salmon Streams of Anticosti Island.
Montreal: The Anticosti Corporation, [circa 1930]. Original printed paper wrapper. 11 x 8 inches; 22, [1] pp. maps and illustrations after photographs in text, folding map. Toning and soiling to wrapper, wear to extremities, a few areas of faint spotting and thumbsoiling to contents, ink ownership stamp of F. E. Haigt to front cover.

A scarce promotional pamphlet published by the Anticosti Corporation, the paper consortium that purchased Anticosti from the French Chocolate magnate Henri-Menier, to attract salmon fishermen. The text gives a general overview of the island, detailed descriptions of each of the island's salmon streams, a sample fishing diary, and information about travel to and accommodations on the remote island. There are a number of editions of this pamphlet: this copy's edition and year of publication are not specified, however 1930 is the latest date mentioned in the text and so one can assume that this is an early edition. Bruns p. 25-26.
