[MAP--ENGLAND] JANSSON, JAN. Comitatus Northumbria Vernacule Northumberland.
[Amsterdam]: Apud Joannem Jansonium, [circa 1650)]. Engraved map with hand color to recto, Latin text to verso, central fold, framed. 15 3/4 x 19 3/8 inches (40 x 49 cm) to the neatline. A few small spots of staining and wear, two short tears and a loss along at bottom along central fold, otherwise a clean dark impression on fresh paper, not examined out of frame.

Jansson's decorative map of Northumbria, published in his Atlas Novus, shows the Northeasternmost region of England, bordering on Scotland, Cumberland and Durham. The color includes two hand-delineated roads drawn in brown ink, both stretching from northern towns (one from as Berwick-on-Trent) to Newcastle.
