Publisher's pictorial blue cloth, top edge gilt. 9 x 6 1/2 inches; volume 1: [4], xv-lxxx, 521 pp., volume 2: xiv, 625 pp., frontispieces in each volume and illustrations throughout after photographs, maps, folding map. Light wear, spines faded, faint reddish stain and indentation to front board of volume 2, front hinges cracked in both volumes but bindings are sound, contents bright.
