[FORE-EDGE PAINTING] Two edition of Idylls of the King both with concealed painted fore-edges.
The first an 1859 first edition published by Moxon (later issue) and the second an 1869 edition published by Strahan. Both in full green morocco gilt, the first edition with the title to the upper board and a concealed fore-edge view of Turnbridge Wells. Binding faded and with wear, spotting to title, ink inscriptions. The later edition in pebbled green morocco with gilt paneling to the covers and a concealed fore-edge view of Trinity College, Cambridge. The binding rubbed and worn, the rear endpaper detached. Both about 6 1/2 x 4 inches (16 x 10 cm).
