Sèvres Porcelain Bleu Céleste Ground Mustard Pot and Cover (Moustardier Ordinaire et Couvercle)
Circa 1759, blue interlaced L's mark enclosing the date letter F and incised dT with serifs
Of barrel form, the domed cover with a fruit and leaf finial, painted with a central bouquet within a gilt ciselé foliate husk surround, gilt dentil rims. Height 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm).

Mustard pots can be found with at least two variant covers. One of which is flat with a ranunculus finial and the other as shown here with a fruit finial. Examples can be found both with and without a notch to receive a spoon and are associated with a lemon-shaped tray.
