Sicily. Syracuse, ca. 465-405 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.0g), ca. 410-405 BC, dies by the artist Parmenides.
Tudeer 77 (V27/R49); SNG ANS 287; Jameson 836; SNG Lockett 976. Obverse: Charioteer driving galloping quadriga left; above Nike flying right, crowning him; in exergue, grain ear (off flan). Reverse: Head of Arethusa left, wearing ampyx and sphendone; around, four dolphins; below, [signed by Parmenides - off flan]. Almost Very Fine, irregular flan (not showing grain ear on obverse or artist's name on reverse).
